Super Mario Bros level guide
- World 1-1 (Overworld, 400 s)
- The very first level: Goombas, the first Super Mushroom and the hidden 1-Up block just after the start.
- World 1-2 (Underground, 400 s)
- The first underground level. Run along the ceiling at the end to reach the Warp Zone to worlds 2, 3 and 4.
- World 1-3 (Treetop / athletic, 300 s)
- Treetop platforms, the first moving platforms and Koopa Paratroopas.
- World 1-4 (Castle, 300 s)
- The first castle: rotating firebars and the first (fake) Bowser.
- World 2-1 (Overworld, 400 s)
- A long overworld stage with lots of coins, a beanstalk to a coin heaven and plenty of Koopas.
- World 2-2 (Underwater, 400 s)
- The first underwater level: swim past Bloopers and Cheep-Cheeps.
- World 2-3 (Bridge, 300 s)
- A long bridge where Cheep-Cheeps jump out of the water. Keep running.
- World 2-4 (Castle, 300 s)
- Castle with Podoboos jumping out of the lava and firebars.
- World 3-1 (Overworld, 300 s)
- The first night-time level, with Hammer Bros near the end.
- World 3-2 (Overworld, 300 s)
- An open night stage full of Koopas and Goombas, good for a long Star run.
- World 3-3 (Treetop / athletic, 300 s)
- Treetop stage at night with scale platforms.
- World 3-4 (Castle, 300 s)
- Castle with tricky firebar timing.
- World 4-1 (Overworld, 400 s)
- Lakitu appears here for the first time, dropping Spiny eggs from above.
- World 4-2 (Underground, 400 s)
- Underground with a hidden beanstalk that leads to the Warp Zone to worlds 6, 7 and 8; the regular exit has a warp to world 5.
- World 4-3 (Treetop / athletic, 300 s)
- Treetop stage with mushroom platforms and scales.
- World 4-4 (Castle, 400 s)
- The first maze castle: take the wrong path and the level loops back.
- World 5-1 (Overworld, 300 s)
- Overworld with Bullet Bill cannons and Hammer Bros.
- World 5-2 (Overworld, 400 s)
- Overworld with a short underwater section and a beanstalk leading upward.
- World 5-3 (Treetop / athletic, 300 s)
- A night-time treetop stage with Bullet Bills, similar to 1-3.
- World 5-4 (Castle, 300 s)
- Castle with firebars swinging over lava.
- World 6-1 (Overworld, 400 s)
- Night level with Lakitu and Spinies.
- World 6-2 (Overworld, 400 s)
- A stage full of pipes; many lead to underground bonus rooms with coins.
- World 6-3 (Treetop / athletic, 300 s)
- Night treetop stage with small, fast platforms.
- World 6-4 (Castle, 300 s)
- Castle with long firebars: timing is everything.
- World 7-1 (Overworld, 400 s)
- Overworld with Bullet Bill cannons and Hammer Bros.
- World 7-2 (Underwater, 400 s)
- The second underwater level, like 2-2 but harder.
- World 7-3 (Bridge, 300 s)
- Another Cheep-Cheep bridge, like 2-3.
- World 7-4 (Castle, 400 s)
- Maze castle: the correct route is top, bottom, top, otherwise you loop back.
- World 8-1 (Overworld, 300 s)
- The longest level in the game with no checkpoint and only 300 seconds on the clock.
- World 8-2 (Overworld, 400 s)
- Bullet Bills, Lakitu and lots of pits.
- World 8-3 (Overworld, 300 s)
- Castle walls with several Hammer Bros; a Fire Flower helps a lot.
- World 8-4 (Castle, 400 s)
- The final castle: a maze of pipes, an underwater section and the real Bowser.
