Super Mario Bros – World 8-1
Nobody finishes 8-1 by accident. It is the longest level in the game and there is no halfway point. Fall into a pit in 8-1 and you start again from the beginning, with 300 seconds on a stage that takes most of them.
The layout is wide open ground broken by pits, with Koopas, Buzzy Beetles and Paratroopas in the gaps. None of the enemies are new; the challenge is keeping up a run for the entire distance without a careless jump. The gaps near the end are the widest in the level.
Power-ups are rare here, so arrive as Super or Fire Mario if you can. A hidden 1-Up block exists for those who know where to jump, but hunting for it on the clock is not recommended.
